Get Your Vege on at The Commons

Not too keen on meat? Here’s a list of places you can find delectable savoury vegetarian foods from at The Commons Street Feast that will make even your most carnivorous friends jealous.

You cannot miss the wonderfully bright pink Yalla Yalla food truck when you arrive at The Commons. Yalla Yalla create drool worthy Lebanese street foods, including home made hummus, babaganoush, tabouli and more. Vegeterians out there can feast on cheese sambousek, spinach pie, mixed dips, falafel rolls and more. Yalla Yalla are at The Commons from the 9th – 18th of December for the full ten day season.

Marys do our personal favourite vego burger. It’s a fat, juicy field mushroom that’s been grilled to perfection, served in one of their classic buns with lettuce, tomato and secret sauce. They make burgers that make your table fall silent once they’re delivered. The Mary’s pop up is here from the 9th – 18th so you can get your fix.

Bites on Wheels will be pulling up at The Commons from the 14th of December. They’ll be doing their traditional Polish street food, Zapiekanka, with a vegetarian version for those who aren’t keen on meats.

Local Canberra favourites the Kransky Brothers are cooking up a storm at The Commons . They’ve got veggie burgers fired up for those of you who aren’t keen on the other proteins and will be at The Commons from the 9th – 18th.

Vutu do traditional Nepalese food, made with love and all their own home made spices. Vegetarians can pick up their Mo Mo’s (which are also vegan) as well as one of their Vegan curries. They’re at The Commons for the full ten day season, plenty of time to go back for seconds and thirds.

El Poco Loco do some damn fine Mexican style foods. They’re making their way down from Newcastle to Canberra for The Commons, and will be pulling up on the 14th of December. They’ll be dishing up a Sweet Potato Burrito, Veg Nachos and a Mushroom Quesadilla – catering for vegans and vegetarians alike.

Italian street food done right. They’ve got vego friendly Arancini Balls, deep fried pizza’s, chips and a selection of mind blowing sweets (aka the Nutella Burger). You can find them at The Commons from the 14th of December.

Thaiinabox do a mean egg noodle. They are also doing fresh coconuts, which this weather was made for. Find them at The Commons from the 9th – 18th of December.

You haven’t had woodfire pizza until you’ve had Happy as Larry. They source their flour and tomatoes all the way from Italy, and use only the freshest ingredients to complete their pizza’s. Vegetarians cannot go past the classic Margarita – so simple, but packed with flavour. They’re at The Commons from the 9th – 18th.

Mama Linh’s foods transport you to the streets of Vietnam with their food. They do a mean Banh Mi, as well as noodle salads, spring rolls and more. Their menu changes depending on the fresh produce available, but always cater for vegetarians. Make sure you check out what they’re cooking when they arrive at The Commons on the 14th of December.

Rolling Schnitzel do chicken schnitzels right. They also do a mean mushroom pack, which  you can get your hands on from the 9th -18th of December.

*UPDATE 14 DEC – Sadly, due to two seperate critical family emergencies Fritto and Co. and El Poco Loco won’t be able to make it to The Commons Street Feast 2016.

We wish them all the very best during this trying time, and hope to seem them back at The Commons next year.
